Shahjalal Islami Bank distributed Bangla QR among merchants in Barishal

Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC. conducted 'Bangla QR' distribution and cashless campaign in Barishal to make digital transactions easier, more secure and modern. On October 4, 2026, Mr. Md. Jafar Sadeq, FCA, the Deputy Managing Director of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC. attended the event as the chief guest and distributed Bangla QR codes to merchants from various sectors. The initiative was carried out across various business outlets in Barishal city under the theme of "One Country, One QR; transactions via Bangla QR". The EVP from Corporate Head Office of the Bank Mr. Md. Mazharul Haque, the SAVP Mr. Md. Mominul Islam and the manager of Barishal Branch of the Bank Mr. Abul Kalam Azad were present.

Speaking as the chief guest, the Deputy Managing Director Mr. Md. Jafar Sadeq, FCA stated that this initiative was undertaken to further expand modern and digital transaction systems in Barishal. By scanning a single Bangla QR code, customers can easily make payments for products using various banks and mobile financial services. He further added that the use of Bangla QR would make transactions faster and more convenient for both merchants and customers, while simultaneously reducing the risks associated with carrying cash and enhancing transparency and security in financial transactions.

Such initiatives will continue in the future to expand the scope of cashless transactions at Shahjalal Islami Bank and to further integrate the general public and business people into the digital payment system.
