Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC Organized Financial Literacy Program for CMSME Women Entrepreneurs in Chattogram

Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC. successfully organized a Financial Literacy Program focused on the development and empowerment of CMSME women entrepreneurs on 18th October 2025 at a local hotel in Chattogram. The event was organized by the SME & Agri. Investment Division of the Bank’s Corporate Head Office. The President of the Chattogram Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CWCCI) Mrs. Abida Mostafa was present as chief guest in the program. This initiative is part of the Bank’s continuous effort to promote financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and employment-oriented industrial growth through the effective utilization of the CMSME sector’s potential. The program aimed to enhance women entrepreneurs’ financial literacy and ensure their easier access to banking services and finance.

Among others, The Director of the Chattogram Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CWCCI) Mrs. Jesmin Akter, the Directors of Bangladesh Bank’s Chattogram Office Md. Arifuzzaman and Mohammad Ashiqur Rahman, the Additional Managing Director & CBO of the Bank Imtiaz U. Ahmed, the Deputy Managing Director & CRO M. M. Saiful Islam, the Deputy Managing Director & Zonal Head, Chattogram Rashed Sarwar, the Head of SME & Agri. Investment Division of the Bank Md. Abdur Rahim along with managers of ten regional branches and officials from the Bank’s Corporate Head Office were present in the program.

During the session, Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC reaffirmed its’ commitment to advancing women’s entrepreneurship and strengthening their role in the CMSME sector. The Senior management members emphasized on importance of financial independence, commitment and professionalism as key drivers of women’s success in business. The participating women entrepreneurs shared their experiences, business challenges and aspirations while receiving valuable insights and guidance from the Bank’s senior officials making the program a significant step toward fostering inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurial growth in the region.
