Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd. organized a Financial Literacy Seminar in the district of Tangail on remittance for raising social awareness for legal channel of expatriate income-for the wage earners and their family members on 07th October 2023. The Additional Managing Director of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC Mr. M. Akhter Hossain was present as chief guest in the program. The Assistant Director of Financial Inclusion Department of Bangladesh Bank Mr. Md. Shamim Al Mamun also attended the program as observer from the side of regulatory body. The program was attended by approximately 35 participants who were all wage earners and their family members. The objective of the program was to encourage people of Tangail for receiving remittance from abroad through formal and legal ways instead of informal ways like hundi.

Among others the Head of International Division of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC Mr. Md. Abdul Majid, the Manager of Tangail Branch Mr. Md. Abdul Khaleque, the AVP from CHO of Financial Inclusion Unit Mr. Md Manzur Rahman and the In-Charge of Foreign Remittance Mr. Shawkat Hossain were also present in the program. All speakers emphasized upon increase of remittance through legal and formal channel for greater interest of the national economy.
