Remittances received by Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited (SJIBI), through exchange houses abroad for the beneficiaries in Bangladesh, will also be disbursed through branches of Sonali Bank countrywide.

The banks signed a mutual agreement in this respect at Sonali Bank conference room in the city recently, said a press release.

SJIBL Managing Director Muhammad Ali and Sonali Bank Managing Director (Additional Charge) Kazi Faqurul Islam signed the agreement on behalf of their respective banks.

Under the agreement, SJIBL will issue demand draft (DD) for the proceeds of remittances received from exchange houses and those will be credited by Sonali Bank.

SJIBL deputy managing directors Md Mukhter Hossain and Abdul Jabbar Chowdhury, EVP Md Mohashin Miah, Sonali Bank Deputy Managing Director Prodip Kumar Datta and high officials from both theorganisations were present on the occasion.
