Mr. M. Shahidul Islam, a prominent and senior banker with more than 34 years’ multi-functional experience in banking took the charge of Managing Director & CEO of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited from 01st October 2018. Earlier, he was the Additional Managing Director of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited. Prior to his joining at Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited, he was the Additional Managing Director of United Commercial Bank Limited.

Mr. M. Shahidul Islam obtained Post Graduate Degree with Honours in Management from University of Chittagong. He started his banking career with National Bank Limited as ‘Probationary Officer’ in 1984. After serving National Bank Limited for 14 years in different capacities, he joined at Prime Bank Limited in 1997 and served there 11 years in different senior management positions including Branch Manager with his strong leadership and dignity. After that he joined at United Commercial Bank Limited in 2008 as Deputy Managing Director and elevated to the rank of Additional Managing Director in UCBL on 01st March 2011.

During his long 34 years of experience, he has gathered vast experience in almost every key areas of banking like Corporate Credit, SME Credit, Foreign Trade, Consumer Banking, Credit Risk Management, Syndicated Finance, Foreign Investment, Finance as well as Treasury.

Mr. M. Shahidul Islam participated in various capacity building training programs, seminars, workshops and symposiums on Banking and Finance at home and abroad.
